Barb Christensen received the Rotary Vocational Achievement Award for all the work she's done throughout the years to advance the Muscatine Art Center. Barb got her advance degree from a fine Oklahoma University. Congratulations, Barb!
HAPPY NEWS
Jeannie and Dave Stanley were happy to tell us they'd completed 60 years of marriage. Dave coughed up 60 bucks! Your editor went up to see if it was in silver certificates but it was a check.
Frank Kelly was happy to be a Rotarian. He had bumped into some people over the weekend wh o had flood problems and he was able to call a couple of fellow Rotarians to get the problem solved.

We were supposed to see Jessa and James Huebing Reitinger talk about Project InSect But something went haywire and Barb Christensen brought Sheila Chadoin from the Musser Public Library to share some photos and facts about Oscar Grossheim. What a terrific program! We saw slides (no PowerPoint)! This is itself was a trip into history.

July 7th - Mrs. Lori Gossenburg, Manager, Muscatine County Fair will discuss the 2008 Muscatine County Fair. If we're lucky, she'll bring the current president of the Muscatine County Fair Board with her.
July 14th - Mr. Ken Purdy, pilot and Louisa County Supervisor on the current condition of Lake Odessa.
July 21st - From Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Dr. Linda Lee and Ian Montgomery, will give us a "Cardiology Update."
And to complete the month of July with a July 28th presentation by Muscatine Police Chief Gary Coderoni. A day in the life of the City of Muscatine's Chief of Police.

It is a truism of human nature that few people will perform without some type of recognition. To Rotarians, the rewards are fun, fellowship, and self actualization. But the overriding reward is the knowledge that through their service, they and - the Rotarians they lead - are making the world a better place through effective leadership in their workplace, in their Rotary Clubs, in their communities and in the world beyond.
