Program
Mark Langon, campaign manager for the Iowa Water and Land Legacy Amendment, spoke about protecting water, farms, and quality of life in Iowa. He is an Iowa native from Ottumwa, IA.
This organization is composed of over 120 non-profits. It was formed in 2006 to create a sustainable funding advisory committee for Iowa conservation. Iowa ranks 49th out of 50 states in access to public hunting and fishing areas and conservation funding for public lands. This group came together to try and address lack of funding for natural resources and to keep rural areas and towns vital. The goal is to set up a protected trust that will provide a sustainable source of funding so that Iowa can do long term planning in this area. If the amendment passes, when/if legislation increases taxes then 3/8 of each penny will go towards Iowas Water and Land Legacy trust along with other designated monies.
