  • The Chamber is looking for volunteers to serve as block captains at this year’s 4th of July parade. Duties will include helping groups find their spot in the lineup and keeping them in the correct order, as well as acting as an extra “eye” for the staff. Block captains will meet at 1:45 PM at the check-in area (10th and Iowa Avenue) and will be released as soon as their block clears. History:
Musco was founded in 1976 by Joe Crookham and Myron Gordin. The company began with G&L Industries in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Looking to expand they purchased Muscatine Lighting and Manufacturing Co. with the support of George Shepley and First National Bank. Musco’s strategic focus is on the sports lighting niche.
Some milestones during the 48 years of innovation are Sportscluster in 1977, Mobile Lighting in  1982, Control-Link in 1998, Light-Structure Green in 2005, and Market Shift to LED in  2016.
 
People and Culture:
The Team member mission is to “Create value and have fun; providing products and services for people with whom we can develop long-term relationships built on mutual trust and respect.” The Team is #1 and they are all living the tagline “We make it happen.”
 
Musco employees 1,700 Team Members Worldwide. The Headquarters is in Oskaloosa. Manufacturing plants are in Muscatine, Des Moines, Shanghai, China, and Gumi, South Korea. Musco has Offices in 12 countries with Projects in 125+ countries.
 
Projects:
Some notable projects include Dodger Stadium, Field of Dreams Stadium, University of Michigan, Notre Dame Stadium, Daytona International Speedway, Sydney Motorsport Park, the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, and The White House.
