Susan Herrick, District Governor, presented information about Rotary's theme, Make Dreams Real and her goals for this year.  Susan explained how International President D.K. August 25th Club Announcements

  • District 6000 is seeking four outstanding young professionals, ages 25-40, to be part of a Group Study Exchange team to Taiwan from March 1, 2009 to March 29, 2009.  The purpose of the GSE is to promote international understanding and goodwill through person-to-person contact.  Participants must be employed full-time in a recognized business or profession and live or be employed in District 6000 territory.  If interested applications are available at www.rotary6000.org .  Applications must be endorsed by the sponsoring club and submitted to the selection committee by October 2, 2008.
  • New Member -We have the second reading of proposed new member Brook Mahaffey, Director of American Red Cross, Muscatine-Louisa Unit, is proposed for membership by Lynn Schultz.  If there are any objections to this induction, please see Karen Diercks or a Board member.
  • Chris Ciasto-Rotary & YPN Blood drive is on Thursday, August 28th from 12:30-5:30 p.m. 
  • Sara Fitzer-Huston-United Way Day of Caring is on Wednesday, September 10th.  Teams of volunteers are welcome to sign up by contacting the United Way at 263-5963.

Blood Drive Wrap Up  

Thank you, to everyone who participated in the Rotary & YPN Blood Drive on August 28th!  We collected 13 units which equates to 52 lives being positively impacted by our cumulative donations.  I think that is something to be commended for.  We had 7 donors from the YPN and 6 donors from the Rotary Club.  Thank you to all of the donors, greeters, and individuals that contributed baked goods for the drive.
