Week of October 5, 2009 Today's Program: Terry Branstad on Des Moines University In Case You Missed It Monday's presentation was given by Jody Landers and Pete Korpi on "Water for Christmas". This program brings clean water to the world's thirsty. Donors can track 100% of all donations directly to water solutions.  Water for Christmas specifically goes to Liberia. A $1.00 investment has an $8.00 return and an investment of $5,000 will drill a new well. You can support this effort on October 24th by participating in a 4 mile walk/run. Tony Joseph talked about our Rotary project for water in Belize, Panama and Central America.  More information about our efforts will be presented soon. September 28th Club Announcements Fund raising results: Pack the Park made $309 and Branson on the river $250. Public Relations & Special Events Committees will be meeting on October 5th immediately following our noon program. Please welcome Jennifer Conner, Bickford Cottage, as our newest Rotary member. Jennifer is sponsored by Ron Yohe. First reading for membership: Richard Durschlag, if you have any concerns about this potential member please speak with a board member. October 6th at Augustana @ 7:00 in the Science Hall there will be a meeting with one of the founders of Rotary Eradicating Polio. To learn more please speak with Mary. Mary was also happy to announce members that attended the sub-district meeting.  They were Mike Ruby, Rich Dwyer, Marilyn and Norm Smith, Kelly Garvin, and Caren Luke. There will not be any more morning make up meetings this fall. Craig Bode needs you! Happy News Mike Ruby is happy the cardboard recycling has recycled 24 ton more of cardboard so far in 09 over that recycled in 2008. Karen Diercks was happy about her grandson's solo performance and the Muskies win. Mark Mather was happy to announce that his son Nathan and wife Jill have given them their first granddaughter.
