Today's Program:
Climate Change Opportunities for Iowa
In Case You Missed It
Monday's presentation was given by John Buchanan on the Ponseti International Association. Every year 150,000 to 200,000 children are born with Club Foot around the world. Dr. Ponseti developed the first non surgical treatment for Club Foot disorder. This life changing procedure treats patients by placing their feet in a series of casts. Prior to this technique the only way to treat Club Foot disorder was by a series of painful operations. Dr. Ponseti has trained doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals to perform this technique throughout the world. Treating Club Foot with Ponseti's technique is very inexpensive and is 97% effective. The treatment or series of casts lasts about three weeks.
