Program for October 25th: Dr. Manasi Nadkarni discussed major 21st century health problems and how to prevent them.  The main problems are diabetes, heart disease and obesity.  She said 50% of the improvement in lessening these diseases comes from the patient and 50% from the doctor.  Her advice eat healthy, don't smoke, exercise regularly (30 minute walk per day) and drink responsibly.

The key is preventing these diseases from happening and that can be lessened by correct diet since obesity is a major factor in diabetes and heart disease.

Dedicated walking is important because walking for 30 minutes a day releases positive endorphins, and relaxes blood vessels and is a relatively simple way to improve one's health.
