Week of May 3, 2010
May 3 Program:
Muscatine Fire Dept 2.0 by Mike Hartman
In Case You Missed It:
The April 26th program was given by Bob Albee on the latest in Mechanical Drafting. Bob was glad to be back visiting the Muscatine Rotary club. He is now responsible for the Blong Technology Center which opened the fall of 2001 at Eastern Iowa Community College. BUT, he commutes from MUSCATINE!
Bob talked about the new Mechanical Design program which is a district wide program available on all campuses. This class is a hybrid class that uses online learning, media sites, and face to face learning combined. All indications show that this layout is working very well. Class goals, books, and lectures are all listed online for students to review as needed. If the lecture is not uploaded to the website a CD is made of the lectures for the students. All assignments can be submitted online or in person. This makes access to the class 24/7 and instructors are available in person or via email. The program currently has 30+ declared majors. An instructor for the Mechanical Design program is at Muscatine Community College on Mondays and Tuesdays.
