Rotary Program: Mike Frye introduced Greg Spenner and Sarah Freiberger from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa.  There are 70 chapters across the United States with 20,000 construction firms as members.  They represent 8 of 10 construction workers.  ABC oversees wages, working conditions, sound legislation and fair play among a few of their support topics.  Greg noted that there is a shortage of 2,000,000 workers across the United States and to just keep pace we need 250,000 construction workers.  The field is heavily computerized and mechanized.  Average income is $70-80,000 per year.  There are 900 apprentices enrolled in coursework. The governor is proposing an increase in apprenticeship funding from $1 million to $3 million this year.

Sarah Freiberger shared current OHSHA regulations and procedures in regard to safety training for the Construction Field.  The presentation was informative and provided current information on the construction employment field.
