Club Announcements
Kelly Garvin has arranged for the Muscatine Rotary Club to drive the courtesy carts during the Muscatine County Fair on Saturday and Sunday. Those interested in volunteering should contact Kelly for open slots. Volunteers receive free entry into the fair.
Club President Karen Diercks shared the new initiatives proposed by Rotary International President Dong Kurn Lee of Korea. Lee has developed a new membership recognition program. During 2008-09, clubs that achieve a 10 percent net increase in membership will receive a certificate signed by the president. At the district level, gaining two new clubs and a 10 percent net membership increase must be reached. District recognition awards vary depending on the percentage of clubs achieving the membership increase. For Muscatine that means we need to increase our membership by three individuals. The Club President is also charged with bringing in one new member.
Karen also encouraged all Rotarians to contribute to the Bridge Tribute Project.
