In Case You Missed It
Monday's presentation was given by Jeff Nock on Goodwill of the Heartland. Goodwill provides services to individuals through vocational and non-vocational services to help people live more independent and satisfying lives. Funds generated from Goodwill Stores are used to provide job coaching and placement for clients. Snackers II, which is owned and operated by Goodwill, currently has 16 clients who work at the restaurant and are learning job skills. Goodwill also facilitates work placements for high school students in Muscatine businesses. Each client's skills are evaluated and are placed in a work environment that best fits their needs and skills. One of Goodwill's goals is to give people a leg up and to help them better themselves by focusing and building on their skills.
