In Case You Missed It

Last week's presenter was Laura Liegois, Solid Waste Manager.  Laura shared with us the latest information on recycling and various facts about integrated solid waste management.  Muscatine County has one landfill area that most cities in the county use.  In the City of Muscatine, we have both a recycling center and transfer station.  Recycling is offered in collaboration with City Carton Company.   Recyclable materials include office paper, glass, metal cans, cardboard, plastic bottles and jugs #1-7, newspaper, and magazines.  In addition to recycling and other transfer services, the City also operates a composite site.  To learn more about the Transfer Station and other activities related to recycling and refuse, visit their website at http://ci.muscatine.ia.us/pw/transfer/index.htm.

January 12th Club Announcements

·          Public Relations Committee, will have a meeting following Rotary on the 19th.

·          Barb Christensen shared upcoming event at the Art Center: Kosovo Revisited, tells the story of their journey through photos and art work created by Muscatine and Kosovar participants.  A public reception is planned for Sunday, January 18 from 1:00pm - 5:00pm.  To find out more contact Barb.

·          Ron Yohe, Pastor of Faith Chapel Church, was inducted as a new member.  Ron is sponsored by Gladys Reif.  Please welcome Ron to our club.
