Today's Program: Muscatine Connections to Alexander Clark
In Case You Missed It
Monday's presentation was given by
Kumar Wickramasingha of Sunny Brook.
Kumar is a native of Sri Lanka and much of his family still lives there. On December 26, 2004 a Tsunami hit Sri Lanka
and devastated his home town. Kumar
began fundraising and with the help of his friends and the Fort Madison Rotary
Club raised over $70,000! Kumar showed a
very moving video that he made of his fundraising efforts and his trip to Sri
Lanka to deliver some of the funds raised.
With the money raised Kumar and his family were able to feed 5,000
people, provided school supplies for 1,000 students, and built 7 homes. With over 40,000 people killed in this
tragedy Kumar and his supporters were able to provide relief and hope for many
families. Thank you Kumar for sharing
with us your journey and for all that you do for others.
