Sarah Ingstad is so happy to be moving and finally have a home in Muscatine!! No more seperate road trips to Muscatine for the newlyweds!!

Program: William Koellner, from the West Liberty Rotary Club delivered a very informative program on the Rotary Foundation.  Bill is retired from the Army Corp of Engineers and is currently on the Mississippi Bend AEA Board of Directors.

Bill stated the importance of the Rotary Foundation and our support of it.  He noted that 1 in 6 people in the world live on $1 a day. Rotary has collaborated to give $167.6 million to reduce poverty in the world.  The top initiatives for Rotary International are:  elimination of poverty, care of the environment, food security, child mortality, promotion of literacy and peace and conflict resolution.

For every dollar a Rotarian in District 6000 gives it is invested for 3 years and then comes back to the local clubs as simplified or matching grant funds available for our projects locally or internationally.

The Polio 2012 Initiative has received over $850 million and it is anticipated that at the 2011 Rotary Convention it will be announced that the $200 million challenge to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation match will be met!!

Bill also mentioned the Group Study Exchange Program and the Ambassadorial Scholar Programs as ones that we should all know about and share as opportunities with our club members.

For greater detail we will have Bill's powerpoint presentation available in a pdf format for anyone who would like it.
