Rotary Moment:  Tom talked about the International Youth Exchange that Norm and Marilyn Smith head up for the Muscatine Club.  Only about 1/3 of Rotary Clubs participate in the youth exchange.  It is very time consuming and heavily regulated by Rotary International and the State Department.  We are lucky to have willing members to keep this program going and organized for our club.

The Service Committee and PR Committee met after Rotary on the 23rd.

Mary Wildermuth is still taking orders for shirts, please see her if you are interested in purchasing.

No Happy News today due to new member inductions.

August 23 Program

Social Security Administration by Tom Guy

Tom Guy gave a presentation on and answered questions about Social Security benefits.  He is very involved in all social security programs but talked mainly about disability and retirement.

Tom emphasized that it is important to plan early for retirement and not rely totally on social security to fund your retirement.  A good resource for all social security programs is their website, www.socialsecurity.gov .  Through the website you can apply for certain kinds of benefits; get addresses of local offices; request statements; and find copies of all publications.  Medicare is actually a separate program, for information please visit, www.medicare.gov .

In recognition of today's presentation, the Muscatine Rotary Club will donate a children's book to the Musser Public library with the presenters names inscribed in the front of the book.
