Marv Krieger placed a motion on the floor asking that the Riverfront Bandshell Project Fundraising Project be discussed with the membership prior to agreeing to fundraise through Rotary for the initiative.  Acting President Tony Joseph stated that the project would be discussed with the Board first and then brought to the membership for support or not. The membership needs to understand the pros and cons of the project.

Rotary Program: Bob Albee introduced Matt Schultz, Iowa's Secretary of State to present an update on the workings of the office.  Matt stated that he is a recovering lawyer!! His office has been working to streamline processes by putting forms on line and using formats such as email in support of opening a new business.  His office has also initiated a statewide registry for mechanics liens against commercial properties.

Matt is proudest of two voting initiatives that engage young voters and recognize veterans.  The Rock the Vote Initiative is proud to high school students through classes at which Matt holds a mock election and the actual mechanics of voting. He let's the students know that Every Vote Counts!!.  His work on the "Honor a Veteran" with  your vote is a statewide posting of a person currently serving our country.  Matt's presentation was informative and engaging!!
