In Case You Missed It

Last week's presenter was Sal LoBianco, General Manager of Muscatine Power & Water, on "Your Municipal Utility".  Sal began his presentation by breaking down the three main areas of service that are provided in Muscatine: electricity, water, and communications.  Water services were established in 1900 and currently serves water to 9,500 households.  There are over 1300 fire hydrants in Muscatine that are serviced by MP&W.  Electricity is provided to about 11,200 customers in Muscatine and was established in 1922.  All electricity provided to residents and businesses is powered by three coal fired generators.  Finally, Communication services started in 1997.  Currently, about 8,000 households receive cable services and 6,500 households receive internet service.  Not only does MP&W provide excellent services in water, electricity, and communications, but they are also actively engaged in bettering our community.  Some of the benefits that MP&W offers our community are installation and maintenance of fire hydrants and traffic lights, "Energize Muscatine", and active involvement in protecting the environment.  For more information about Muscatine Power & Water visit their website at http://www.mpw.org/
