Presentation-
Keith Porter- World Affairs Seminar
The World Affairs Seminar (WAS) is a one-of-a-kind educational experience for high school students. It provides a global forum where future leaders can explore and discuss urgent international issues.
WAS began in 1977 as an international youth program of Rotary District 6270 in southeastern Wisconsin, the birthplace of Rotary founder Paul Harris.
The seminar includes everything participants need for the week: lodging, meals, counselors, instructional materials, nursing staff, and insurance. Days are filled with world-renowned speakers, day trips, group projects, and a pre-college experience that inspires leadership and global awareness.
The 2026 World Affairs Seminar will be held June 20–26. The Muscatine Rotary Club is encouraged to sponsor one or two students. The cost is $995 per delegate, with a $50 discount for registrations completed before February 27.
This program complements, rather than competes with, RYLA. While RYLA is an excellent leadership experience for freshmen and sophomores, WAS is best suited for juniors and seniors.
