The Afterschool Program served 45 students from 3 to 5 p.m. this year. Thanks to a $30,000 grant, the program was expanded to cover the entire school year and "no school" days.
We’re often asked for building updates since the property next door was torn down. The demolition caused some damage to the Flickinger building, but the program was fortunate to partner with Zion Church to continue programming at the church. The transition also created opportunities to make needed updates to the building.
Students enjoyed several community outreach projects this year, including packing blessing bags for MCSA and making ornaments for residents at Lutheran Living. We plan to continue those projects next year. The program also began using teacher resources from Iowa State Extension and has partnered with MCC to offer work-study opportunities for students.
