Lisa Heckman- Rebuild Together Muscatine County had a wonderful volunteer day on Saturday. Habitat is happy to partner with other nonprofits for community events like this. Marc Hines- Crossroads successfully completed a 3-year accreditation survey last week. Recognizing 2 milestones for Megan, her birthday was yesterday, and on May 4, she celebrates her 5 year work anniversary. Steve Snider- We are gearing up for the Rotary Garage Sale on May 10. We could use a few more volunteers to organize and price items on Friday, May 9, and on May 10 during the garage sale. You can start bringing items to Crossroads on Monday, May 5. Please get in touch with Steve if you need help getting donations to Crossroads.
Club Business:
- Follow the Rotary Club of Muscatine’s Facebook page, @MuscatineRotaryClub.
- We are looking for members to join the board and/or help with programs and membership. This is a great opportunity to get involved and give back.
- May 10- Garage Sale Fundraiser. Donations will be brought to Crossroads starting on Monday, May 5. Sign up to help during the sale. Shifts are Friday, May 9, to price items at Crossroads or three shifts during the garage sale on May 10.
- Work started on the Pocket Park. We will update the Rotary grant activity as that process continues.

Matt Mardesen- City Administrator
In December of 2024, Matt Mardesen was named the City Administrator for the City of Muscatine after being selected by the city council. Mardesen brings a diverse background in government, helping municipalities thrive for the last 13 years. Matt joined the City of Muscatine after 3 years at JEO Consulting Group, where he assisted communities with engineering and architectural projects throughout Iowa. Mardesen served as the City Administrator for the City of Monroe, City of Nevada, and as the Chief of Staff for the City of Council Bluffs. Matt began his law enforcement career in 1998 with 13 years of full-time service before transitioning to a part-time role for another 13 years. Matt plans to share his background and experience with the club today and his vision for the City of Muscatine.
