Iowa Donor Network
Iowa Donor Networks is the OPO (Organ Procurement Organization) in Iowa. MISSION: Working Together to Transform Lives Through the Gift of Organ and Tissue Donation. VISION: All Are Inspired to Donate Life. 2024 Impact: 1,155 Donor Families Served, 1,118 Tissue Donors, 130 Organ Donors, and 387 Organs Transplanted.
Organ Donation can be lungs, pancreas, kidney, heart, liver, on intestine. Only 3:1000 have the potential to be an organ donor. 550+ Iowans are waiting for a life-saving transplant. 80% of those are waiting for a kidney.
Tissue and cornea donation. Tissue donation is easier and 1 tissue donor can impact 50-300 people. Donations include cornea, bones, tendons, valves, skin, and veins. In 2024, 1,118 Iowans enhanced the lives of others through the gift of tissue donation.
How to donate? Most people register at the DMV while getting or updating their driver's license. You can also register when getting a hunting/trapping license. You can always register at https://www.iowadonornetwork.org/register. Make sure your loved ones know your registration status and wishes.
