Sarah Lande- The Stanley Center for Peace and Security is hosting a Future Model UN summit with students. Thursday at the High School enjoy a free performance celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year.
Karen Cooney- Karen got a new hearing aid. She is grateful for today’s technology. Naomi DeWinter- MCC is hosting a Legislative Forum this Saturday from 9-10:30 in the Student Center. Steve Snider- Our club will hold our second annual Garage Sale Fundraiser this May. Please start looking for items to contribute. In February we will hold a raffle fundraiser for Hancher tickets.

  • We are looking for members to join the board and/or help with programs and membership. This is a great opportunity to get involved and give back.

Nora Dwyer- ISU Extension- LEAP Coordinator
 
HOP funds land grant universities’ extension services to implement evidence-based Policy, System, and Environmental (PSE) strategies in counties with adult obesity rate over 40% to improve:
  1. food and nutrition security and
  2. safe, accessible physical activity
Support core activities such as partnership engagement,
workforce development, and programmatic and evaluation efforts.
The two LEAP strategies are:
  • Nutrition- increase access to healthier foods- Healthy food procurement and food service guidelines and fruit and vegetable voucher programs.
  • Physical Activity- Increase policy, plan, or community design changes to increase access to physical activity- Connect pedestrian, bike, or transit transportation network to everyday destinations.
