Presentation-
New Horizons (Robert Young Center).
Robert Young is housed in the New Horizons building. As the Outreach Coordinator, Sara is responsible for visiting the schools to talk about trends and dangers of tobacco use. The new trends show while smoking is decreasing, vaping is increasing at an alarming rate. There is no clear way to combat the trend yet. Muscatine is trying to form a coalition to work on solutions.
By the numbers, in Iowa:
1 in 4 High School students vape and 1 in 10 Middle School students vape.
Robert Young's informational programs are “My Life, My Quit” aimed at students under 18, and “Quit Line Iowa” supporting adults.
