Mike Wedell: Blood drive this Wednesday from 11 am to 2 pm at Impact Life on 2nd Ave. Please contact Barth Donald at Barth@Donaldcg.com to sign up. Mike and his wife received good news during a Mayo visit last week. Karen Cooney: Happy to have her mom at the meeting with her. They enjoyed a weekend road trip for a family wedding. John Kuhl: Recognized Megan for completing a year of double-duty board service as President and club secretary. Mike Ruby: Underwent eye surgery last Wednesday and is looking forward to sight returning to his right eye. Mike gave an extra $1 in honor of Kim Snider being in attendance and thanked her for her work on the Garage Sale fundraiser.

  • The Chamber is looking for volunteers to serve as block captains at this year’s 4th of July parade. Duties will include helping groups find their spot in the lineup and keeping them in the correct order, as well as acting as an extra “eye” for the staff. Block captains will meet at 1:45 PM at the check-in area (10th and Iowa Avenue) and will be released as soon as their block clears. 23-24 Year in Review
 
We are closing the 23-24 Rotary year and looking forward to 24-25.
 
  • Membership- 4 new members: Lisa Heckman, Bobby Fiedler, Emily Shore, and Monica Koechle.
  • Fundraising- Hancher tickets and new Garage Sale event (total $1,403)
  • Program highlights- 2 off-site events (MCC & Stanley Center), Rotary presentations (Rotary Foundation, Chemo Riders, District Governor, Xicotepec), Other highlights- Hancher season preview, Alcatraz Escape, Beyond Behavior
  • Youth Services- 5  scholarships and a Speech Contest
  • Service Projects- 10 Service projects- Ragbrai, 4th of July Block Captains, National Night Out Book Giveaway, Tree Planting, Thanksgiving in July, Freezing for Food, mobile food pantry, Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed build, Red Kettle Battle (Rotary won by over $10K) and the in meeting literacy kits
  • Human Trafficking Education- Hosted a community presentation with the Lions Club and League of Women Voters and City proclamation in recognition of Human Trafficking Awareness Month.
  • Rotary Foundation- Paul Harris recognition- 10 Paul Harris awards during the meeting. Earlier in the year we recognized Mark Roberts, Shane Orr, Tony Joseph, and Mike Ruby as Paul Harris Fellows, and Carolyn Levine for her contribution to the Polio Plus Society.
