Happy News/Announcements:  All Happy News funds go towards our scholarship awards.
Keith Porter- $5 for the Iowa Hawkeye’s Women’s Basketball Team advancing to the sweet 16. Lindsey Phillips- Bowl for Kids’ Sake is this Saturday. A few lanes are still open in the 4:30 pm session if anyone would still like to register. Naomi DeWinter- During the City Council Meeting last Thursday, our Rotary Club donated $1750 to assist with the transportation of emergency vehicles to Ukraine. Carol Webb- $5; at the same Council Meeting, the City announced the donation of a Fire Engine to Ukraine relief. Carol is also exciting Spring is here and celebrating the wonderful things happening in Muscatine. Marc Hines- $20 The City of Muscatine will hold a public hearing on March 22nd at 3 pm to discuss the adoption of residential, building, and fire codes. Crossroads invites the community to join advocacy efforts to eliminate a section that states, A facility with five or fewer persons receiving custodial care shall be classified and require an automatic sprinkler system. THE PUBLIC HEARING HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO APRIL 5.  Ben Nietzel- During Lent, his daughters raised $1200 for local charities by making over 80 cheesecakes. Naomi DeWinter- Tuesday, March 21, 2023, the community is invited for a celebration to honor John Debeet at 4 pm.

  • The Rotary Club, in partnership with MCC, will host a Poster Contest to bring awareness about Human Trafficking to youth ages 16-22 years old. Contest information is posted on social media. A contest flyer is included below. Please share the information with the community.
  • Naomi and Megan were on the HyVee Today Show to discuss the poster contest and share the work Rotary is doing in the Muscatine community and membership information.

Muscatine Power Water continued operation of Unit 9, Units 7 & 8 operating as peaking units, South Fork Wind in-service; purchase power agreement ends in 2036, and Muscatine Solar 1 PPA is signed; projected online Q4 2025. MPW looks for balanced solutions, always considering four core values: Reliability, Affordability, Flexibility, and Sustainability. A Power Supply Study engaged Leidos engineering to evaluate the market, assets, and scenario forecasting. All scenarios, from business as usual to 100% renewable energy, were considered.
