Introduction of the two new Salvation Army Lieutenants, Lucas, and Macy Gantner.
Scott Davis- Scott contributed $24 to commemorate his 24 years of Rotary membership. This will be Scott’s last meeting with the Rotary Club of Muscatine because he is moving to Dallas, TX, after his retirement, next week to be closer to his grandkids. Rob Yant- Rob celebrated a significant birthday this month. Rob is thankful to be active in retirement and with the Rotary Club. Naomi DeWinter- Naomi contributed $6 $3 in recognition of the 3 Almost Friday Fest events Mark Roberts and Frank Iliff have volunteered for. Please consider volunteering for the final Almost Friday Fest event on September 22nd. Frank Iliff- Rebuild Together Muscatine County is hosting Chamber Business After Hours on Thursday, September 8th, 5-7 pm, to celebrate the 15th Anniversary in Muscatine County.

- Mark your calendars for a NEW fundraising opportunity. Rotary has been asked to join the Chamber Ambassadors to cover the Beer Tent at the Food Truck Fight on Saturday, September 17th. Volunteers will receive Free T-shirts and swag. 2 shifts are available: 11:30-4p pm or 3:30-8 pm. For more information, please get in touch with Megan Francis at mfrancis@crosroadsmuscatine.org.

Joe Murphy: Iowa Business Council
Joe Murphy is the executive director of the Iowa Business Council. In this role, he leads an organization comprised of CEOs and top executives from the 20 largest employers in Iowa. The Iowa Business Council catalyzes to elevate Iowa’s long-term economic vitality through global thought leadership, research, and advocacy. Founding members came together with the mission to help businesses succeed and assist all Iowans to be successful.
Iowa Business Council (IBC) is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization established in 1985. The mission was established during the Iowa farm crisis to enhance Iowa’s economic vitality for all Iowans. IBC comprises 20 CEOs and top executives of Iowa’s largest employers. The council’s primary functions are global thought leadership, research, and advocacy. In 2021 IBC members employed 170,000+ Iowans, with a combined payroll exceeding $10.1 billion.
IBC members rate Economic growth with a positive outlook for the 8th quarter in a row. However, they acknowledge top concerns: attracting and retaining talent, supply chain/ business clients, and Cost of product/service inputs.
Focus going forward: The future of education (delivery, skill training, Future Ready Iowa), Collaboration with business and education in shaping the future workforce, leading by example with work-based learning opportunities and engagement with inclusion and diversity efforts, population growth strategies including federal immigration reform and refugee settlement.
