Please get to know our Scholarship Award winners
The Rotary Club of Muscatine awarded 5 scholarships this year. Four students are attending Iowa-based Colleges and Universities, and 1 student is continuing his education at MCC. Mike Wedell, Mike Morgan, and Shane Orr served on the scholarship review committee, evaluating 41 applications. Looked for students with multiple high peaks in their applications, including academics, teacher feedback, student engagement, and perseverance.  The committee also looked for students that live the Rotary way, Service above self. Two students could not attend our meeting today: Indiana Stephens and Paige Mathias. Both students will attend the University of Iowa in the fall, and we wish them well in their studies. The other three recipients introduced themselves, brought guests, and shared their plans for the coming school year.
Silas Hoffman- Silas was joined by his mother, Heidi Hoffman. Silas will study Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University in the fall. Silas is currently working for HNI as a product development engineer. He looks forward to continuing his studies at Iowa State University.
Emilio Bobay- Emilio was joined by his mother and father, Elaina and Michael. Emilio will also be going to Iowa State University to study Mechanical Engineering. Emilio has been working as a Product Development Engineer with HNI and looks forward to this next step in his educational career.
Fernando Carrillo- Fernando will start his college career at MCC, where he will complete his AA. After that, Fernando plans to transfer to UNI to major in Construction Management. This summer, Fernando had an internship with a small construction company in West Liberty that kept him busy.
Congratulations to all of our scholarship recipients. We wish them well in the coming year.
