Happy News/Announcements:  This is a reminder that Happy News funds go towards our scholarships.
Frank Illif- Thank you for the financial donation from the members of our Rotary Club. The funds were used to put in a ramp. Erica Cox- Enjoyed her daughter’s graduation party. MPW Customer Appreciation Day is this Saturday from 10-2 pm; please stop by. Heather Morrison- Wapello Rodeo Queen will be crowned on 7/15. Heather is selling 50/50 raffle tickets. All funds raised will go to scholarship awards. Ben Nietzel- After 7 girls, he and his wife welcomed their first boy. Barth Donald- His family Cat, ran away, causing a stressful day, but he is grateful the cat returned later in the evening. Marc Hines- He and his wife found out they are expecting a boy.

Community Event:
  • Starting to gather Volunteers for Almost Friday Fest on Thursday, June 23. This summer, we are teaming up with HyVee as a food vendor for each Almost Friday Fest.  We will need 3-4 Volunteers to help at each event from 3:30-8:30 pm. We will split the event into two shifts- 3:30-6 and 6-8:30. The Rotary Club will share in the proceeds.
  • Check your calendar for availability to help serve as a Block Captain for the 4th of July Parade. We are collecting sign-ups.
  • We have 1 or 2 board positions available on the 1st of July. Please see Naomi for more information.
Club Announcement:
  • In response to the war in Ukraine, our Rotary Club has decided to contribute $1000 toward Rotary International support efforts.  We ask club members to consider a donation to match this contribution. We cannot become complacent about the devastation that continues.
 
Presentation:
            Knee High Distilling Co- Thad Burkamper
Muscatine currently boasts both a fantastic vineyard and brewery. Both locations have built their reputations on quality and atmosphere. There remains an opening for a craft distillery. Alcohol maintains a consistent market in good and bad times. Kee High is a business built around three pillars- Excellent Quality, Great Price, and Serving the Community. Knee High is planning on selling Vodka, Brandy, Whisky, and Gin. The goal is to get Vodka out the door and to customers quickly, allowing for the aging process for Whisky products. Founding Team- Jeremy and Kealy Spratt, Rachel and Thad Burkamper. A 5-year growth plan includes an infrastructure plan and giving back to the community.
