Chuck Moody: $4 in honor of his 54th Wedding Anniversary this past week. Frank Iliff: Attended Certified Aging in Place Certification Training. Mark Roberts: Daughter played in Des Moines Christian win over Davenport Assumption, Girls Soccer.

Community Event:
  • Starting to gather Volunteers for Almost Friday Fest on Thursday, June 23. This summer, we are teaming up with HyVee as a food vendor for each Almost Friday Fest.  We will need 3-4 Volunteers to help at each event from 3:30-8:30 pm. We will split the event into two shifts- 3:30-6 and 6-8:30. The Rotary Club will share in the proceeds.
  • Check your calendar for availability to help serve as a Block Captain for the 4th of July Parade. We will collect sign-ups next week.
  • We have 1 or 2 board positions available on the 1st of July. Please see Naomi for more information.
Club Announcement:
  • In response to the war in Ukraine, our Rotary Club has decided to contribute $1000 toward Rotary International support efforts.  We ask club members to consider a donation to match this contribution. We cannot become complacent about the devastation that continues.

World Relief was founded in 1944 toward the end of WWII. They work in 24 countries worldwide with agencies located in 20 U.S. cities and headquarters in Baltimore, MD.
World Relief is a not-for-profit resettlement agency serving refugees and immigrants in Iowa and Illinois. World Relief Quad Cities began in 1999 as a sub-office of World Relief Chicago. Since then, they have served nearly 3,000 refugees, immigrants, and secondary migrants.
Terminology: Immigrant: any foreign-born person who has decided to leave their native country and intends to stay in a new country permanently. Non-immigrants remain only temporarily.
Refugee: any person forced to flee their country because of persecution, war, or violence. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution because of race, religion, nationality, social affiliation, and/or political opinion.
Resettlement Programs: Reception and Placement- Provides initial resettlement services and housing during the first three months of adjustment.
