Happy News/Announcements:  Jessica Whittman- Holiday Lights at the Lake is a Drive Through light Display fundraiser for the Bird House of Johnson County Hospice House in Iowa City.  This has been a passion project for Jessica and she hopes everyone will take time to visit the display and start a new family holiday tradition.  Learn more about the Bird House and the Lights at the Lake at http://www.hospicehomejc.org/ Naomi DeWinter- Greeting from Marv Krieger.  He is doing well and looking to return to meetings soon. Frank Iliff- Done with COVID and wants to remind everyone to Cherish your family and friends.
 
Club Announcements: The Board is looking to get a debit card for some reoccurring club business and we are looking to implement policies to accompany the new practice.  If any club members have concerns or advice please reach out to a board member.  Upcoming Service Project: We have been asked by MCC to assist in planting 1000 flags in honor of Veterans Day.  We are inviting Club members to join together at MCC Friday Nov 5th at 4pm to help in planting 400 of the flags.  We will them get together at HyVee Market Grille following the flag planting for fellowship time and to welcome our new members following their club orientation. Membership- Rotary has a goal to grow membership for the Rotary Year- our club currently has 65 members. The membership promotion is referred to as “Each One Bring One” For the month of November we are asking each member to bring a guest to at least one meeting to introduce them to the club.  All guests will be free for the month, and potential members always receive a free meal. For each guest a member brings to a meeting they will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card,

Jerry Ewers- Fire Chief with Muscatine Fire Department
 
Program: Fire Prevention
Muscatine Fire Department is committed to creating a safer community through: Prevention, Preparedness and Effective Emergency Response. Community members can call the Fire Station tog et a Home inspection to assist with fire prevention.  The Fire Department enjoys taking part in community events, you can request the Fire Department for a community event on their website.  The Fire Department along with everyone is struggling with Recruiting and Hiring new firefighters. The hiring of new firefighters was deferred during the pandemic as the City reviewed the financial impact, but the positions have been approved to move forward.  The Fire Department has been working with local counselors for recruiting, so if you know anyone looking for work please refer them. Department implementing Peer Support Team in conjunction with the EAP to support Firefighters with trauma seen on the job.  The Department is in need the proposed Station 3 to assist with effective emergency response times.  The project is currently in prelim testing.  Please reach out to your council and the Mayor to support Station 3.
