Happy News/Announcements:  Diana Broderson was happy she attended the Christmas tree lighting at First National Bank on Friday. Naomi DeWinter and Jordon Lloyd are happy about the heart to heart program at Sunnybrook.  Paul Fitzpatrick is happy that the Pittsburg Steelers now have a player named Fitzpatrick - #39.  Rick is looking forward to the Iowa vs Iowa State basketball game this Friday.  
 
Club Business:  The Board will be meeting next Monday.  Today is the last day to order flowers for the holiday fundraiser.  Congratulations Cheryl Plank and Clint Christopher on becoming new members of our club.  2nd reading for Kayla Bartling.  Board approved a $2500 global grant for project in India.  District 6000 and Rotary International will match - for a total of $7500.  We will have a program about the project in the future.  End of year is approaching if you would like to give to Rotary Foundation.  
 
Program:  Our program was Ned Barry speaking on the Guatemala Literacy Project.  Mr. Barry is currently a Rotarian in Florida.  1/3 of people in Guatemala can not read or write.  80% live in poverty.  62% of the children in Guatemala do not attend middle school.  Mr. Barry showed us slides and statistics of the Literacy Project, including books for elementary students, text books and computers for middle schoolers, and training for teachers, and more.  The Guatemala Literacy Project gets help from over 600 Rotary Clubs, over 80 districts, 8 countries, for over 20 years.  57,222 students are benefitting from the project every day.  For more information  www.guatemalaliteracy.org/contact  Thank you Ned Barry.  
 
Our speaker next week will be Steve Grubbs - Founder of Chalkbites VR - virtual reality workplace training.   We will not be having meetings on December 21st or 28th.
