Guests:  Katie Watson and Jeremy Pickard were guests of Naomi DeWinter.  Michelle Kelman was a visiting Rotarian from the Rotary Club in Burlington.  Cheryl Plank was a visitor today as well.  
 
Happy News/Announcements:  Megan Francis let us know that the committee for The Walk to End Alzheimers is looking for an additional committee member.  Let Megan know if you think of anyone that would be a good fit.  Charla Schafer let us know that there will be free presentations featuring Ben Winchester on the rural narrative - attracting people to our community.  Kim Warren shared that our Rotary Club gave $1000 towards Operation Warm Coats and the United Way added an additional $500 - purchasing 84 coats for children in Muscatine.  John Kuhl was happy that at last weeks fellowship meeting - Robert (Bob) Yant was introduced.  Bob transferred to our Club from the Rotary Club in Marshall, MN.  Paul Fitzpatrick was happy that his father in law turned 95 years old last Tuesday.  
 
Club Business:  Don't forget to RSVP for our November 2nd in person meeting - our speaker will be Gage Kent from Kent Corp.  Boxed lunches will be served.  This meeting will also be on Zoom.  If you plan to attend in person, you need to RSVP by Friday.   We had our first reading for Rebecca Paulsen to become a new member.  We will be having a holiday fundraiser this year through the Flower Gallery.  Greg Bock will be sending information out for this.  Orders will need to be placed by December 7th and arrangements will be delivered the week before Christmas.  
 
Program:  Our program was Dr. Ellen Bluth, Vice Chancellor for Iowa Workforce and Economic Development.  Dr. Bluth is also a member of the Rotary Club of North Scott.  Today's focus was on Iowa's New Jobs Training Program (NJTP).   NJTP provides companies with training for new employees, this is funded with Iowa withholding taxes.  Identify local needs and respond to needs.  They will come into your company and do an onsite assessment and customize training to your company needs.  Training needs to be done through EICC.  Reimbursed up to 50% of new employees salary for on the job training.  Since 1983 they have helped create 27,382 new jobs.   Thank you Dr. Ellen Bluth.
