Recap from the November 25, 2019 Club Meeting: 
Happy News:  Paul Fitzpatrick celebrated his 46th wedding anniversary this last weekend.  Congrats.  Holly Thomas-Koehler was happy that the Hawkeyes won on Saturday and also reminded us of the holiday floral fundraiser we are having - order forms are due today.  Mike Hagerty let us know of the Muskie Locker Drive - items need to be collected by December 6th and then be disbursed to the Muskie Lockers. Harvey Allbee was happy the new organ at Wesley United Methodist Church was dedicated yesterday with a concert on it in the afternoon.  Steven Bradford is happy that he is going to his daughters for Thanksgiving in California, he also let us know that Brandon Bullock will be our presenter on December 9th,  not Steven.  Scott Ingstad was happy that both Hawkeye teams won this weekend,  football and basketball.  
 
Cow Bell Ringing:  Alan Ostergren was on the show "Murder for Hire" on the Oxygen network.  The bell was also rang because we were happy to see Pam Collins and Tony Joseph at Rotary. 
 
Club Business: An anonymous donor will match $1000 if we raise $1000 for Salvation Army AND will also donate another $1000 to the Rotary Polio Fund.  Save the date for our 100 year celebration on February 1st at the Merrill. 
 
Program:  Our program was Chris Knapp - District 6000 Foundation Chair.   50% of our District grant money goes towards community grants and the other 50% goes towards global grants.  The Gates Foundation gives a 2 for 1 match, up to $250 million annually towards End Polio Now.  They have does this for 6 straight years.  Rotary connects the world, it is in over 200 countries, we are engaged and connecting with people.  Global grants fall under the following categories;  water and sanitation, vocational training teams, mother and child maternal, humanitarian, and rotary scholars.  Our District global grant impact - in the last 10 years, 46 clubs have had 82 humanitarian global grants that have impacted 900,000 people.   How can we give??  ACH from your bank account, annual or quarterly gifting, bequest - endowment, required minimum distribution out of your IRA - aka - Qualified Charitable Donation.  Give however you like.  In 2020 there will be 2 foundation dinners - November 6th and 7th.  Thank you Chris Knapp.
