Annual Rotary DIstrict  Foundation Dinner is on November 3, 2018.

Program: Chris Knapp, District 6000 Foundation Chair provided an informative program on the Rotary Foundation Funds. The Foundation is 126 years old. Over $3 Billion have been given out. There are 3 major funds: including Annual, Polio and Endowment.  The Annual Fund is made up of Paul Harris Contributions and is used to provide global and local district grants.  The Polio Fund is the source of funds for creating a polio free world.  Funds have been matched by The Gates Foundation 2 to 1 to rid the world of polio.  The Endowment Fund consists of funds contributed by members and is spent in the district.  The Paul Harris Society is a part of the Annual Fund and is a commitment of $1000 annually.  The Bequest Society is within the Endowment Fund and is augmented through a member's will.  District Grants are accessible to all clubs with a maximum of $5000.  We received one recently for $4800.  Global Grants have funded larger projects such as Water projects in Tanzania.  The Hy Vee Foundation through there One Step products makes contributions to Rotary and is well over $1 million.   Chris reminded members that at age 70 and one half they can contribute directly to Rotary through their IRA taxfree.
