Recap from our August 27, 2018 meeting:
Visitor: Hope Robins was the guest of Jim Nepple. She is the new tax manager at NPL in Muscatine.
Rotary Moment: Rotary moment was presented by Sal LoBianco. Sal spoke about how the Muscatine Rotary club sponsored a boys band from 1922-1930's. It was a 50 piece youth band that performed at many events both local and elsewhere.
Happy News: Marv Krieger reminded us of the reunion/roundup of inactive members taking place at the September 17th meeting. Gage Kent will be the speaker. Marv encouraged us to bring a guest. At the September 10th meeting he will be confirming who is bringing a guest so we can get a head count for tables and meals. Naomi DeWinter attended the 35th anniversary event of sister city relationship with China cities. Sarah Lande received an honor at event. Kim Warren let us know there is a future of Iowa Summit event taking place on September 21 at the Merrill Hotel. Erika Cox was happy that her youngest daughter drove herself to school for the first time. Shane Orr was happy that he attended a baseball game in Minneapolis on Sunday with his father and sons.
Program: Our program was club business. Shane Orr shared that 2 of our goals are children literacy and child abuse prevention. We will be having programs about these goals in the next month or so. He also reminded us of our local project for way finding signs along the trail system and benches for the new dog park. Our global project will be a dialysis center in India. Shane asked that everyone fill out the survey for the club so he can analyze the feedback from them. Kim Warren discussed rotary bill with us. She explained to us what our dues cover - international dues, district dues, local dues, meals, tax filing, special projects, etc. She encouraged us to all pay our dues in a timely manner because she has to cut checks for the dues by specific dates. The Rotary Board met after the regular meeting.
Next meeting is Septmber 10, 2018 at the Rendezvous.
