Happy News: Nathan Mather is happy about the Cubs! Cath Hahn shared a RYLA student's excitement  in attending this summer. Bobbi Holliday is happy that she met her son's in laws to be and visited the church where he will get married next summer. Diana Broderson is pleased that her church fixed 200 Christmas Boxes to be sent to children in the world. Erika Cox provided an update from the Interact/Outbound Student Committee.
 
Program: Joe Schmidt representing the Opthamology Department at the University of Iowa described the department and the programs.  The Opthamology Department is one of the top programs in the United States with persons coming from all over the U.S. to participate.  The Department has been around since 1925 and today has 300 plus faculty and staff.  Patient care is the number one focus.  The department is inclusive in providing clinical research, teaching and education, vision research with great support from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust and STEM cell research, as well as 3 D printing (scaffolding) repair and design of the eye's structure.  They are also involved in long standing programs that include the Lion's Club Eye Bank and the iowakidsight.org project that provides vision screening for children ages 0-4.
