Program: Keith Porter provided an informative program on the Stanley Foundation. Founded in 1956 by Max and Betty Stanley and located on the 5th and 6th floors of the Laurel Building. Keith has been with the foundation for 27 years. The Vision of the Foundation is to secure peace, freedom and justice in the world with the rights of individuals being respected and prosperous through effective global governance.  The mission of the Foundation is to advance multilateral collaboration through work which solves global problems.  It is a nonprofit which focuses on policy issues relating to nuclear material security, prevention of genocide and climate change.

Much work is done locally and in the state including the Catherine Miller Explorer Award, Summer Program-Investigation University, Earth Balloon, Iowa Student Global Leadership Conference and International Day.
3-5 % of the world's highly enriched uranium is not secured.  Genocide prevention is important to the Foundation with fewer and fewer countries still practicing it.  It is caused generally by political violence.  Climate change work is around the reduction of the carbon in our atmosphere.

Keith encouraged us to strive to know more about our Foreign Policies as it is most important today to engage in the world's activities, as more and more is impacting us as a country and individually.
