#585, Club Bulletin, December 7, 2015

Rotary News : Guests today were Emily and Eric Blair who are Co-Chairing the Thanksgiving Program next year. Sandy Bean was a guest of Tim Nelson and Hilary Tanner's name was read for the first time as a potential new member.

 

Keith Porter gave the sad news that Rotarian Ron Yohe had passed away. Mary reminded us of the Salvation Army Bell Ringing signup. We have two anonymous donors for Rotary gifts to the Salvation Army. She also asked us to save the date for the Rotary Trivia Night on January 31, 2015.  Members were asked to correct information in the Directory on the table.  Also Jess is taking pictures today so be sure to have yours made for the Directory!!  December 14th meeting is at MCC in Strahan Hall.

Happy News: Jess invited us to see Oliver at the Coralville Center for the Arts on December 11-13 and 18-20. Harvey Allbee is happy that his grandson was quoted on the front page of the Muscatine Journal today and that the Hawkeyes won!! Naomi De Winter is proud that since she moved to Iowa the Hawkeyes have taken on a winning streak!! Alan Ostergren is proud of our community in helping with social media and many tips to so quickly apprehend the Hotel Muscatine thief!!

 

Program: Judi Holdorf introduced Jim Weigand as the recipient of the Great Initiative Award.  Jim is thankful that H.J. Heinz moved his family to Muscatine. The Thanksgiving Meal Program began with one anonymous dinner given by Jim and his wife.  This year 55 dinners were taken to persons in need in our community in addition to providing the meal at MCSA for Thanksgiving.  The money raised to fund the dinners is through The Knights of Columbus and their Beef and Noodle Dinner.  Jim's son in law through the Iowa Beef Association donates the beef and 20 individuals made the noodles.  Jim's turning the program over to Eric and Emily Blair to chair but he will continue to share the program with other communities. When asked how we could help, Jim suggested coming to the Beef and Noodle Dinner!!
