Rotary News and Happy News: Cristian Lopez reminded us to sign up to ring bells for Salvation Army on December 8, 2015. Locations are HyVee and Walmart.  Call 263-8272. Naomi DeWinter invited everyone to breakfast to Honor our Vets on Wednesday from 6-9 AM at the Farmer's Diner.  Mike Ruby enjoyed Iowa City's 100 Anniversary Celebration.

 

Program: Rick Gosney provided an informative program on our Rotary Foundation.  This is Foundation Month.  The Mission of the Foundation is to advance world understanding and good will, through the voluntary contributions of 1.2 million Rotarians.  Every Rotarian Every Year is our international initiative to give to the Annual Fund.  The World Fund supports large international projects that are sustainable and impactful.  The Rotary Foundation is rated very high by Charity Navigator with 92% of all donations going into programs, 6% used for fundraising and 2% for administration.

 

In our last bill we were asked to make our annual donation of $100 to the Rotary Foundation.  In total our club has given $763,768.  Last year $400,000 was given from District 6000.

 

Today we recognized Diana Gradert as a Paul Harris plus one recipient making her a Sustaining Paul Harris. Kelly Garvin was also recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow and received an Honorary Paul Harris from the club.
