Rotary News: Josh Beelman guest of Shelley Sides and potential new member. No meeting on May 25, 2015. Rich Dwyer presented President Tony Joseph with an award to our club from the Rotary Foundation for outstanding support for the End Polio Now Campaign.  Mary Odell reminded us of the District 6000 effort to raise $14,000 to send food to Nepal. Diana Broderson provided an update on the food committee. Thursday evening will be the May Night meeting of Rotary at the Radio Station with Jamie Hopkins starting at 5:30 and concluding at 7:00 pm.
Happy News:  Ron Yohe appreciates living in Muscatine. Judi Holdorf is happy that the Community Foundation is hosting a Nonprofit Summit. Dennis Taylor is happy that his daughter got married in Chicago. Mike Hagerty  is hoping we will help pack 6000 meals on May 28th..if you can come contact the United Way Office. President Tony Joseph gave a brief update on his trip to Guyana to help with his father-in-law's election to become Prime Minister. Exciting times!!
 
Program: Mary Wildermuth introduced Krista Regennitter, as the Muscatine County Extension Director.  Krista noted that their are 100 extension offices throughout the 99 Counties.  The idea in the mid 1800's was to bring practical research to the citizens of the state regarding agriculture and home economics.  A 9 member elected council oversees the work of the county.  Overall there are 915 full time staff and 17,000 volunteers who deliver the work of the Extension service throughout the state.  There are 8 statewide hotlines and 94,000 youth involved in 4-H with 1 in 5 youth in Iowa being involved.  Locally, outreach is in the form of Economic Development, Food and Environment, and Youth Outreach. Victor Quervides is involved in Latino Community Outreach in West Liberty creating support for entrepreneurs and expanding business.  Master Gardeners is a college level course that teaches persons how to garden. There are 13 4-H Clubs with 215 children participating.  Krista showed a Youtube video and provided a brochure including services, hotlines and websites.
