Program: Tom Green introduced by Greg Jenkins.  Tom talked about H.J. Heinz long history in Muscatine. Starting in 1892 it preceeds the Pearl Button Capital of the World days.  The Pickling Works made sauerkraut, horseradish and of course, pickles!!  In the 1950's the plant expanded and began to make Heinz Ketchup and Gravy!! Today, Heinz is planning a $35 million dollar expansion with just under a million square feet. Three other Heinz plants are closing with production moving to Muscatine.  Looks like about 140 new hires.  The plant is now making Canadian Ketchup for the Canadians. Heinz carries the honor of being ranked #1 in safety for 15 years in a row.
