Presentation:
Stephanie Torrance and Amy Winslow
Amy and Stephanie from Goodwill of the Heartland shared how every donation and purchase at Goodwill helps fund job training, career development, and employment opportunities throughout a 19-county region in Iowa and Illinois. Goodwill focuses on supporting the “opportunity workforce,” individuals who want to work but may face barriers to employment, through services including career coaching, workforce training, Project SEARCH support, SNAP employment assistance, and short-term credential programs. In addition to workforce development, Goodwill is committed to sustainability and its goal of becoming a zero-landfill organization through recycling partnerships and electronics recycling programs. Presenters noted that 89 cents of every dollar is reinvested directly into Goodwill’s mission and community impact efforts.
