Presentation-
Carmen Galvin- The Mississippi Valley Child Protection Center
The Mississippi Valley Child Protection Center provides trauma-informed services to children and dependent adults who are victims or witnesses of abuse across a six-county region. As one of only six nationally accredited child advocacy centers in Iowa, the program offers forensic interviews, medical exams, family advocacy, and community education in a safe, child-focused environment. All referrals come through law enforcement or the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, and services are coordinated through a multidisciplinary team to support victims and their families throughout the investigation and recovery process. The center is 100% grant funded and also provides community and workplace training, including a program supported by HNI Corporation that teaches those working with children and dependent adults how to recognize, respond to, and appropriately report suspected abuse.
