Presentation-
Rob Cline- Hancher 23-24 Season

Hancher is going through many transitions right now and under new leadership. Through that leadership, they hope to celebrate the foundation but engage in evolution while providing various experiences. Hancher serves U of I students, the community, and their artists. Hancher is committed to storytelling across the arts. A significant change this year is how people experience performances at Hancher.  The Hancher Auditorium seats 1800 people (actually less than the classic Hancher). This year they plan to do stage seating for smaller gatherings—for example, 248 seats and 185 seat options. The idea is to have a ‘full house’ and right-size the audience size to the performance experience.  Utilizing Strauss Hall, they will also do different seating options to ensure no empty seats. Additionally, they will continue to have partner venues on campus and in the communities.

Hancher is offering a Subscription Series option for the Broadway series. This year’s Broadway shows are Come from Away, To Kill the Mocking Bird, HairSpray, and Chicago. They hope to be able to offer more recent Broadway shows in the future.

All dates can be found online at https://hancher.uiowa.edu/2023-24 and in their brochures.

Hancher FREE Fall Welcome outdoor concert on August 25th with three performers and several food trucks. The gathering starts at 5:00, and entertainment begins at 6:00.
