Mark Roberts- Mark’s daughter is a placekicker and has been attending camps as she prepares for college. Mike Ruby- Rotarians have been flying a single-engine plane around the world and raising money for Polio. ‘Flight to End Polio’ They are back and will begin sharing their story with local rotary clubs. Learn more about the Flight To End Polio at https://www.flighttoendpolio.com/. Diana Gradert: Hoover Hometown Days this past weekend. Fourteen Hoover family members attended. Karen Cooney- Karen got new shoes to keep up with her daughter, who is a runner. She also tried pickleball this last week at the Y. Encourages everyone to try it. Melanie Alexander- Son’s 12th birthday. He is now taller than her and has bigger feet. Clint Christopher- Thank you, Rotary, for helping at the food pantry. Also, reflecting on the scholarship winners at the meeting last week. Highlighted the learning opportunities they have all had to receive college credits now and the internship opportunities locally. Youth are prepared to enter college and ahead in credits.
Club News:
- The board recommends Steve Snider for the open board position. Motion to accept Steve to the club board of directors- Rob Yant, 2nd Karen Cooney. All approve.
- Follow the Rotary Club of Muscatine’s Facebook page, @MuscatineRotaryClub.
- ACH forms are available for easy payment of dues.
- Reminder the next Mobile Food Pantry distribution is Tuesday, September 5th. Please volunteer if you are available.
- Almost Friday Fest- Rotary will have a food tent at Almost Friday Events at the last two summer events on August 24th and September 28th.
- Club goals for 23-24 Rotary Year- Increase membership to 65, 4 service projects with at least 20 members participating, two socials, contributions to Rotary International over $8000, Polio Plus contributions over $500.
